Regional Data - Facts for your Region
Since 1980, BAK Economics has specialised in analyzing industries and regions using empirical and quantitative methods. Over the years, this has resulted in a profound knowledge of regional economic performance. The databases of BAK Economics have a unique degree of actuality and detail enabling numerous evaluations that are always adapted to the client's needs.
Our 2020 data from the updated RED database provide a first look at the impact of the Corona pandemic at the country and regional levels.
BAK data deliveries can be compiled individually:
- Regional differentiation: BAK Economics can compile the focus region based on the client's wishes. For Switzerland, BAK Economics has data on a municipality basis and can thus aggregate and supply data for any agglomeration or functional region. Internationally, data are available for over 1900 regions in 25 countries for various administrative levels (at the lowest level mostly TL3/NUTS 3).
- Delivery frequency: one-off, quarterly (Switzerland), yearly.
- Formats: XLS, PPT or also via BAK data portal
As a data service up to four times a year or at any time on the BAK data portal
- Precisely fitting regions, detailed down to municipality level and combinable as desired
- Industry differentiation: around 150 industry and sector aggregates are available in NOGA 2-digit combinations

A subscription provides continuous access to the Regional Economic Database:
- Access to all time series for a maximum of 100 regions
- Up to four data deliveries a year with brief explanations of each indicator
- On request, individual regional and sectoral aggregates can be created on the basis of the database

The RED Research Datasets offer cost-effective, consistent time series for regions and industries of 25 countries for economic analyses. The Regional Economic Database allows evaluations of economic and sector-specific development based on meaningful indicators of economic development for the period from 1995 to 2015, for more than 1,000 regions in 25 countries and for 115 individual sectors and numerous sector aggregates.
