Cutting Edge Technology Profile for STRING

STRING is a political cross-border organisation, with eight regions and five cities as members, located in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. STRING is also a geographical area that comprises Oslo City and Viken, West Sweden, the Copenhagen-Malmö-Region (Øresund) and the region of Hamburg. The vision of STRING is to be a globally acknowledged green investment hub and a leading implementer of sustainable infrastructure to combat climate change while improving the lives of its citizens.

Together with the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property, BAK Economics has developed an approach that allows for the measurement, analysis and assessment of research and technology activities of companies and regions within a global comparison, based on patent analysis. Further, this approach allows BAK to analyse how research-intensive regions are and to evaluate the quality of these research activities. This technology approach also highlights research cooperation and technology combinations, i.e. patents that are relevant for more than one technology.
