"Sustainability Gap" of Northwestern Switzerland 2022

How prepared are companies in northwestern Switzerland for climate change and resource scarcity? BAK Economics analyzed this issue on behalf of the Basel Cantonal Bank. The data-driven analysis of the regional situation shows that the foundations for sustainable development have been laid. Interviews with experts and companies provide insights into visions and best practices to be applied. A survey was also promoted to analyze the current situation of companies, and the "sustainability gap" shows that companies in northwestern Switzerland are on the right track. The task now is to stay the course and embed climate change and resource scarcity even more prominently at the operational and strategic level in the core business so as to close the -42% gap.
