Upper Austria in comparison with the best European regions

How competitive is Upper Austria compared to the best in Europe? BAK Economics conducted an analysis on behalf of the Initiative Wirtschaftsstandort (IWS) OÖ, examining the province's economic potential in an international comparison. The analysis shows that Upper Austria can certainly hold its own in an international comparison with economically successful, innovative and dynamic industrial locations, but that it has some catching up to do in certain aspects, such as the quality of higher education or accessibility. The region has a strong industrial base, but the high-growth service sectors are not proportionally represented. The innovative potential has a positive effect on future prospects.
